Prabhakarrao Mamulkar Mahavidyalaya (formerly ‘Kala Mahavidyalaya’), run by Adarsha Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Rajura, is a Higher Education Institution, and the only senior college in the semi-urban area of Korpana town, rendering valuable educational service to the people of this remote region. The college has been established with the basic objective of providing higher education to the youth of the tribal predominated, backward hilly regions that border the town. The college is a beacon of light that illumines the minds of numerous marginalized and economically challenged young people of the vast stretches of land ensconced by the mountainous terrain that borders the newly formed Telegana State. The college is a NAAC- accredited institution, which was originally and permanently affiliated to RTM Nagpur University, Nagpur, and is currently affiliated (with permanent affiliation) to Gondwana University, Gadchiroli. The college is a mono-faculty (Arts) college with regular B.A in five subjects – English Literature, Marathi Literature, Economics, History and Sociology.
The college has most of its vacancies filled in teaching and non-teaching posts and two of the remaining are sanctioned waiting to be filled. With its commodious building, the institution provides ample infrastructural facilities for Classrooms, Gymnasium, Smart Room, Network Resource Centre, Computer Lab, Library & Reading Room, NSS Room, Auditorium / Conference Hall, Common Rooms for Boys and Girls, etc. The college library is fairly large with an adjoining spacious Reading Room wherein numerous newspapers and periodicals are well-arrayed on display stands to update the learners with the latest news or developments in the world. The college has an expansive playground of 2.5 acres, a small garden-cum park, Canteen facility, Vehicle Parking, Cycle Stand facility, toilets for the students and the staff, and centres for Career Guidance, Population Education, Women Studies, IQAC Cell, and facilities for Sports and Cultural activities. The second floor of the building houses the Junior College. The classrooms are well-equipped and ICT-enabled with LCD projectors in four classrooms. Curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are harmoniously blended and numerous activities and events are organized every year for the all-round personality development of the students. The institution thus ensures good student support through its fine teaching-learning activities undertaken by the committed qualified faculty members, the principal as well as through the support services by the dedicated non-teaching staff.
